Research interests: Water, heat and solute transport in soils, crop modeling, snow hydrology

Current project: I am studying the influence of soil matrix temperature gradients on surface and subsurface nutrient transport. This project aims to understand and quantify the effect of freeze-thaw cycles on nutrient storage and redistribution in soils of agricultural landscapes.

Why this matters: Frozen soils have complex physical, chemical, and biological properties compared to unfrozen soils. Researching a complex and unique system feels important to me, and eventually is a great contribution to science.
